About Westminster Presbyterian Church

Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) holds a unique position in the Huntsville community. For over 50 years, our dedication to Reformed worship and ministry has shaped the lives of several generations as we endeavor to fulfill our mission - to glorify and enjoy God by worshiping him, according to the Bible, God’s inerrant word.

We stand firm in our commitment to reverent worship and theological integrity. Our commitment to building Christ’s church is evident in the planting of nine churches in Alabama and Tennessee.

Our largest ministry is Westminster Christian Academy, a preK-12 school serving more than 750 students across three campuses. WCA has been in continuous operation for 42 years. Among Reformed churches in our area, we have a unique commitment to Christian Education.

By the fall of 2007, it is our determination to relocate both church and school to a 42-acre campus in northwest Huntsville, our region’s fastest growing area.

WPC is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, a denomination in the Christian family committed to the authority of scripture, biblical worship, and global missions.

WPC is committed to the Bible as the written Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and life.

We hold to the classic statements of Presbyterian theology found in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger Catechism, and the Westminster Shorter Catechism. We believe that these documents provide an excellent summary of the system of doctrine found in the Bible.

These standards affirm many important Bible teachings, including:

  1. The inspiration, inerrancy and authority of the Bible as God’s written Word.
  2. God is one being existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are the one true God, equal in power and glory.
  3. The sinfulness of all men and women and their inability to seek or please God through their own efforts.
  4. The Lord Jesus Christ is true God and true man. Through Christ’s life, death, resurrection and ascension, he has won victory over sin and brought salvation to his people.
  5. The work of the Holy Spirit enables men and women to turn from their sin, and trust in Christ as he is offered in the gospel. The Holy Spirit empowers men and women to live godly lives.
  6. The church is God’s people and is entrusted with the solemn responsibility of the worship of God, helping one another grow in Christ, and proclaiming the gospel throughout the world so that men and women may come to faith in Jesus Christ.
  7. The privilege and power of prayer.
  8. The return of Jesus Christ to judge the world in righteousness.
